Information

n December 1975, a hoard of twenty-six bronze daggers was discovered at an
archaeological site in Sangrim-ri, Iseo-myeon, Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Archaeologists made no further discoveries, artifacts or features related with the
daggers at the site, which led them to conclude that the artifacts had been placed
there deliberately.
This exhibition of bronze daggers is intended to increase our understanding of
the Sangrim-ri bronze daggers, which show distinctively different features from
Korean-style daggers in terms of the techniques used to make them and the areas
in which they were distributed.
The exhibition consists of three parts. The first part introduces a collection of
Sangrim-ri bronze daggers, while the second part focuses on bronze daggers
excavated in Pyeongyang and other areas, enabling visitors to compare the daggers.
The third part presents a wide variety of bronze daggers, thus helping visitors
to deepen their understanding of all the distinct types of bronze daggers.
We expect this exhibition to be a valuable opportunity to deepen our knowledge
about the life of the Sangrim-ri bronze dagger collectors who settled in today’s
Wanju in the early phase of Korean history
